Day 4:
Well, this is it. The final day of the convention. In football terms, this is what separates the winners from the loser, the teams that raises to the occasion versus the teams that buckle under the pressure, the world champion New York Giants or the lack of defense New England Patriots.
Now in my case, it would have been easy to fall into the catalog of world class loser and shied away from the pressure of the final day at the convention. But really what kind of fanboy would I be if I for instance, stayed at home because my feet hurt from all the walking or that my shoulders were soar from lugging a book around full of convention swag? I’ll tell you, I would’ve been like every team that made it to the Superbowl and not only loss, but got destroyed, like say, the 1995 San Diego Chargers.
So as it goes, my final day of the convention was spent with Frank/Clark and Sarah/Lois. Much like previous conventions in which Frank and I walked the con floor, on Day 4 of Comic-Con we found ourselves hitting as many booths as humanly possible. From the big two (Marvel and DC) to smaller presses such as Firetower Studios, we tried to take it all in. Truth be told, know matter how I attempted to explain it, there’s really no way to properly explain all that was to experience. I mean, Comic-Con was indeed the most awesome thing that I’ve had the privilege of taking part in.
So as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. And that was indeed the case for Comic-Con. A lot happened during the last four days, for instance, Marvel Now! isn’t a reboot, fans are still pissed about DC’s New 52 reboot, and personally I’m on the fence about the Iron Man 3 “Extremis Armor.” Well, there’s so much more I could probably talk on and on again for days, but like any good football coach I got to look at the game tape and reevaluate my performance, because next year, I’m in it to win it and possibly cosplay for a day or two… or three.
